All questions related to installations, configurations and maintenance of Advanced Host Monitor (including additional tools such as RMA for Windows, RMA Manager, Web Servie, RCC).
We have configured some Oracle ODBC test on the KS Hostmonitor.
All these tests will be fullfilled from an seppared machine (Windows 7 64bit / Oracle Client 11g)
Currently is the hostmonitor running on a Windows Server 2003 R2 Std and everything is working well.
I have transferred the config to a Windows Server 2012 R2 and now it is so, that the RMA agent on the Win7 machine will stuck after a few ODBC tests.
Sometimes I can restart the RMA service, sometimes I must kill the process. After a restart it is working for approx. 30 minutes and then the same again.
If I startup the hostmon service on the 2k3 machine everything is working again.
Looks like Oracle ODBC driver problem.
Oracle ODBC drivers often have a lot of bugs and can lead to application crash.
Try changind Oracle client (ODBC) version or use Microsoft ODBC driver for Oracle.
Thank you for your answer. My workaround is now:
The Oracle 11g client is now installed on the KS Hostmon server directly and this works.
I don't know why it is a problem to use the other machine over the RMA. Anyway.
The Oracle 11g client is now installed on the KS Hostmon server directly and this works.
Its more dangerous - if Oracle driver crash HostMonitor all monitoring will be stopped.
We recommend to use agent or switch to Microsoft ODBC driver for Oracle
