I know you don't officially support W2012 (but 90% of HM tests work fine under it) but I thought this is a question worth asking for advice on as it affects any W2008 and above system.
And that is the issue with running HM as an NT service and yet getting it to reliably send email alerts for scheduled reports.
I understand about the need to run some tests under service accounts with perms to see, for instance, files or logs, but what is the best way to configure HM to run as a service and send a daily status report? I can get this to work fine when running as an app but not as a service..

What exactly does not work?
HostMonitor cannot send email? It should work exactly the same way in service and application modes.
"Send e-mail" action started by some "on the schedule" action? or you have assigned this action to some test items?
HostMonitor version?
Please check system log. Any errors?
Auditing Tool? Any errors?
