No web-connect when Host Monitor run as service

Post by Sebastian Uber »

Hello,

we are using Host Monitor 5.38 on a Win2003 SP1 server. I installed HostMonitor and the Web-Service as a service. When I start HM on the server, I got the error "Cannot activate RCI. Probaly port 1054 is in use". I know that this port is in use, by the Web Service. It must be. When I start HM remote via IE, I didnt get my TestList, I get the example TestList. Why?

Many thanks for your help

No. Web Service should listen on port #80 for incominc connections from your web browser. Port 1054 is used by HostMonitor, it listens for incoming connections from Web Service, Telnet Service, RCC.
So, if you receive such message, most likelly you have started 2 instanced of HostMonitor. E.g. one copy is started as service, another - as application. You should not do that. If you want to start application, stop service before.
When I start HM remote via IE, I didnt get my TestList, I get the example TestList.
Because you have connected to that 1st instance of HostMonitor, that probably was started before you made any changes in configuration.
