I cannot figure out why my SMTP test is failing. I am running 3.56 on Win2K sp2. I have SMTP listening on 1 public NIC and 1 private both on the standard port 25. On the public NIC the SMTP test works great but on the private it always fails.

What the status of the failed test? "Bad", "Unknown", or "No answer"? HostMonitor sets "Unknown" status in case of winsock error, e.g. "Unknown host name", "No route to host", etc. "No answer" means system cannot establish TCP connection with mail server. "Bad" status means VRFY command failed (in case you use "Perform VRFY test").
BTW what is "private NIC"?

You were correct I had one test configured to run the VRFY test and that was failing. I turned this off and it is working fine.

I have two network interface cards, NICs, in my machines, one for the public IP address and one for the private. I disable most ports on the public except 80 and 443. On the private network I run all of the other ports.
