Traffic Monitor questions

Post by njzhx »

hi,dear ks-soft
i use hostmonitor , add a traffic monitor test. select one interface of a router.
but the "reply" value is too different with the mrtg value.

Question1: how can i get a exact traffic bandwidth value? I found that the schedule time spacing i set is more large , the reply value i got is more small.

Question2: reply value is incoming value or outgoing value? or it is depending on "Alert if ……" i set ?

Question3: how can i store each value of test into each database sheet? just like private log? it seems that only common log can store as database.
and if i set private log as html format , i found that there are some "host is alive" record , but the reply column of this record is blanck, can i discard these records?

thank you so much!

i don't know whether i have expressed my meaning clearly ,poor English, forgive me
:D :D

Is it higher or lower?
May be you check different interface or you check summarized traffic on all interfaces instead of specific interface?
May be you check incoming and outgoing traffic instead of incoming traffic?
May be you are using KB/MB units instead of Kbit/Mbit units?

Note: options located on Misc page in the Options dialog allow you to select units used to report amount of network traffic (KB/MB or Kbit/Mbit).
You may choose one of the following options:
- Display traffic using KB / MB units
- Display traffic using Kbit / Mbit units
- Select units considering test settings (threshold value)
Question1: how can i get a exact traffic bandwidth value?
It should be displayed in Reply field of the test item.
Question2: reply value is incoming value or outgoing value? or it is depending on "Alert if ……" i set ?
Yes, it depends on test options. E.g. if you set "alert if Income traffic > ...", test will check and display incoming traffic only.
Also HostMonitor allows you to monitor traffic on some specific interface or you may check total traffic on all interfaces of the device.
Question3: how can i store each value of test into each database sheet? just like private log? it seems that only common log can store as database.
You may use "SQL Query" action
