Check NT Event Log for daily entry

Post by thomas.mueller@envers.de »

Hello,

I want to check the eventlog of a server for the result of our backup. I tried to use NT Event Log-test, but somehow it does not work. I am pretty sure, that I made a mistake, but cant see what it is. Maybe someone can give me a hint. here is what I configured.

Computer (UNC): \\SRV12
EventLog: Application
Event Source: BackupExec
Bad event: Any computer, any event-type, any Event-ID, description contains any text
set OK status wehen new good event detected
Good event: Any computer, any event-type, Any from the following (34112) Event-ID, Description contains any text

The test always sets good-status. Shouldnt it be bad when I refresh it because there is no new good-event since last check?

Thanks for your help,
Thomas

No, it should not.
If you want to set Ok status when new event with ID 34112 detected and set Bad status in any other case, set the following options:
- use this event ID for "bad" event filter;
- select "set Ok status when no new bad events detected" mode;
- mark "Reverse alert" test option

Took me some time to learn but I guess I understand the logic behind the properties of eventlog-test now. It works and I can now check the backups of BackupExec with HostMonitor.

Thank you!
