Remote monitoring: Order list and count agents

Post by Robert_in_MTL »

Hi Alex,

first above all, I wish you and your team a very merry Christmas and happy hollydays. May 2014 bring you even more success.

now, my topic :) :

I am about to buy a 3rd pack of RMA with lifetime updates and I see that there are a few things that could be improved to help:

1- In the RMA Manager, as a user, I would like to see in the top unused region of the window (in the tool bar or something ) something like "RMA Licences usage: 19 used / 1 left"

2- in the RMA Manager, I would like to see a simple numbering column at the left side to count the RMAs

3- in the HM RCC, when I edit a test, choosing a RMA causes a long search because they do not appear in an ordered fashion, they are all mixed up. Searching in 30 RMAs can be annoying when a simple alpha order could easely do the trick.

I am now going to have 30 RMAs so I am sure that you understand that these 3 small observations are easy and fast to do and will simplify management for everyone.

Again, happy hollydays :)
Thanks Alex

Merry Christmas :)

RMA licenses managed by HostMonitor... its possible to implement but its more easy to add this option into HostMonitor.
2- in the RMA Manager, I would like to see a simple numbering column at the left side to count the RMAs
RMA Manager shows number of agents and number of selected agents in status bar.
or you mean show number for each RMA record?
n the HM RCC, when I edit a test, choosing a RMA causes a long search because they do not appear in an ordered fashion, they are all mixed up. Searching in 30 RMAs can be annoying when a simple alpha order could easely do the trick.
may be its better to add search option into "Choose RMA agent" dialog?

Regards
Alex

ok, but it is more practical in the RMA manager since we are "there" adding and managing RMA's. As a user, this is where I want to see it. (but in the about HM menu, you are right, it would be a good thing to also have a full list of what we have, what is used and what licences we have left, so we can order)

Yep, simply like in an Excel sheet, you know just the basic easy line number not associated with any records or RMA...

Not really, this would take longer to manage and add too many un-needed and un-wanted clicks, which we all want to reduce, since I name the agents by [country-location-agentName], an alphanumeric order is the easiest and most useful fix, I would simply scroll to country, then location... it would be just so easy to find what I am looking for, and super fast.
In fact, I don't understand how other Customer having lets say 30 or 40 or more RMAs get around a mixed up list

Hi

We are using v9.58 on Windows 208 R2.

I think the third issue is possible right now.

Yes, when an RMA is added, this RMA is not placed in an ordered way in the list (placed to the end). However, when editing or adding a test, in the right of the combo box for Test By list, there is a small button with an explanation "Choose Remote Monitoring Agent". Once this list opens, the list seems to be ordered as Agent Name. Anyway just click Agent column as you want agent names to be sorted and go back. Then look at the Test By combo box, you will see that the agents became ordered.

Correct. When you add new RMA record, HostMonitor always sorts items alphabetically.
RMA Manager sorts items on screen but not in internal list. I assume we just forgot to add this option into RMA Manager so we will do this in next version
Yep, simply like in an Excel sheet, you know just the basic easy line number not associated with any records or RMA...
But how this can be used? RMA Manager shows 2 lists (Passive RMA, Active RMA), these numbers will not be related to any internal index (and you cannot use internal indexes anyway)
